SmithersVibe: Where Local Vibes Thrive

#smithersvibe

The Visitor Centre for a Better Economy (VIBE) Program is a mobile visitor engagement initiative led by the Smithers District Chamber of Commerce. Operating from a branded vehicle, the VIBE team connects with tourists and locals at community events, farmers markets, and throughout town—bringing visitor services directly to where people gather.

VIBE promotes local businesses, Indigenous tourism experiences, and community attractions while encouraging longer stays and deeper connections to the Bulkley Valley. Staffed by trained youth, the program also creates seasonal employment opportunities and hands-on experience in tourism, marketing, and customer service.

By meeting people where they are, VIBE makes Smithers more welcoming, accessible, and economically vibrant.

Access Outdoors: Visibility Through Visitor Experience

Accessibility Features in Local BC Parks

Led through the Smithers Visitor Centre’s Visitor Information for a Better Economy (ViBE) program, Access Outdoors is an initiative to improve how accessibility information is shared for nearby BC Parks. This project supports more inclusive travel planning by offering tools and resources to help visitors of all abilities explore our region with confidence. Whether you’re preparing for a hike or exploring from home, we’re helping make the outdoors more accessible—one visitor at a time.
