Small businesses. Big impact.

2026 Small Business Month

October is #SmallBusinessMonth – a chance to celebrate the people whose ideas, innovation, determination, grit and hard work help our communities thrive.

Every local purchase is a choice to invest in the community we call home.

Across Smithers and the Bulkley Valley, our entrepreneurs, family-run shops, tradespeople, innovators, service providers and hardworking teams create jobs, support families, sponsor local initiatives and give our communities their character. Small business shapes our economy!

Their impact adds up: In 2024, B.C. had more than 540,000 small businesses, employing over 1.1 million people. Small businesses also generate almost one-third of the province’s GDP. (bclaws.gov.bc.ca)

Behind those numbers are local people taking risks, opening early, staying late and putting their hearts into what they do. To our local business owners and their teams: thank you. Your work matters.

The Smithers District Chamber of Commerce is proud to support your success through advocacy, benefits, connections, communications, developing the economy and championing events + initiatives that help businesses grow.
