Northern Lights Wildlife Society: Giving Wildlife a Second Chance
At Northern Lights Wildlife Society, we are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing injured and orphaned wildlife in British Columbia. Since our founding in 1990 by Angelika and Peter Langen, we have been a beacon of hope for animals in need, specializing in bears and ungulates like moose and deer, while welcoming all wildlife that requires assistance. Located in the heart of Smithers, BC, we are more than a shelter—we are a lifeline for the Bulkley Valley’s native wildlife.
Our Story: Over 30 Years of Compassionate Care
For more than three decades, Northern Lights Wildlife Society has been at the forefront of wildlife rehabilitation in British Columbia. What began as a small initiative has grown into a world-renowned organization, thanks to our unwavering commitment to animal welfare and community education. Today, we are proud to be the only facility in the world with an official Grizzly Bear Rehabilitation Program, a testament to our expertise and dedication.
